GP-1. Requirements for mares: Mare must be eligible to have a registered
APHA foal, and must be registered with the APHA, AQHA or JC. Mares being booked to AQHA or JC stallions
must be APHA-registered. Requirements
for stallions: Stallion must be eligible
to have registered APHA offspring and must be registered with the APHA, AQHA or
JC.
GP-2. A mare owner’s purchase fee may be returned
only if a stallion dies, or becomes unfit to breed prior to mare being
bred. Notice must be given to the
Futurity chairperson prior to August 1st of the contract year to be
eligible for a refund. A veterinarian’s
certified letter must be sent to the Futurity chairperson stating the
above. The stallion owner shall notify
the Futurity chairperson as to the stallion’s status in Futurity
participation. If the mare owner’s mare is
unclean or produces a lethal white foal, the mare owner may substitute a second
mare or rebreed the same mare the following year only. You must report his in writing by August 1st
of the foaling year. If the mare owner’s
mare dies the mare owner may substitute a second mare the following year
only. You must report this in writing
within thirty days of the loss of the mare and no later than August 1st
of the foaling year.
A mare owner than fails to present a
mare to the stallion during the contract year forfeits all rights to the
contract.
Mare owners must nominate their mares
by August 1st of the breeding year.
NO EXCEPTIONS! For rebreeding,
the Futurity must be notified in writing by August 1st of the
foaling year. NO EXCEPTIONS!
GP-3. All entries must be produced of stallions
entered and sold in the Illinois Paint Breeder’s Futurity for the year in which
the entry was sold. Where a mare owner
is granted a rebreeding for the following year, the foal will be added to the
eligible foals for that year, but the contract amount will remain in the purse
for the year the contract was sold.
GP-4. Only registered APHA regular and breeding
stock horses are eligible to be shown.
All entries must have a current copy of registration papers by the start
of the Futurity show. Information on
entries must match corresponding information on registration papers, or entry
will be disqualified from showing.
GP-5. No refunds or substitutions will be made due
to death, injury, fitness or untimely entry.

GP-7. Sustaining entries. For those foal owners wishing to remain
Futurity eligible, but will not be shown, a yearly fee of $20.00 must be paid
by August 1st of each year.
Sustaining entries paid after August 1st, but before
September 30th, will require a $40.00 payment. (All horses paid to show include the
sustaining fee).
Weanling
Classification
To
make a foal eligible to show in the weanling classification of this Futurity,
the following conditions must be complied with:
1. An entry fee of $70.00 (includes sustaining
fee) must be paid to the ILLINOIS PAINT BREEDER’S FUTURITY on or before August
1st of the year of the birth of the foal.
Stallions owners must nominate their free
entry (choice of foals) by August 1st of foaling year.
2. Entries postmarked after
3.
A current copy of registration papers
must be furnished to the Futurity by the start of the Futurity show. NO EXCEPTIONS. Information on entries must match
corresponding information on registration papers or entry will be disqualified
from showing.
4. Upon receipt of all entries, entries will be
divided into two divisions—Early and Late.
Median number of entries will determine the split. In the case of an uneven number of entries,
the larger class will be the Early division.
A set dollar figure will be placed on each entry to determine payback.
Only
stallions, geldings and fillies duly sustained or entered in the previous
year’s weanling classification of this Futurity are eligible to continue into
the yearling classification without late penalty. To make a yearling eligible to show in the
yearling classification of the Futurity, the following conditions must be
complied with:
1. An entry fee of $70.00 (includes sustaining fee)
must be paid to the ILLINOIS PAINT BREEDER’S FUTURITY on or before August 1st
of the year the entry becomes a yearling.
2. Entries postmarked after
3. Yearlings not previously sustained or entered
may pay a late penalty of $100.00, plus entry fee to show. Payment of $100.00 late penalty ONLY will
make the yearling eligible for carryover into the next year.
4. A current copy of registration papers must be furnished to the Futurity by the start of the Futurity show. NO EXCEPTIONS. Information on entries must match corresponding information on registration papers or entry will be disqualified from showing.
5. Yearling Longe Line will be shown as per APHA
Rule SC-320, exception is Breeding Stocks are shown together with Regular
Registry entries.
6. All horses will be subject to the drug
policies set forth by APHA.
Two
Year Old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure and
Two
Year Old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure Non-Pro
Only stallions, geldings and fillies duly sustained or entered in the both the weanling and yearling years classification of this Futurity are eligible to continue into the two year old classification without late penalty.
To make a two year old eligible to show in the two year old snaffle bit western pleasure or the two year old snaffle bit western pleasure non-pro classifications of the Futurity, the following conditions must be complied with:
1. An entry fee of $100.00 (includes sustaining
fee) must be paid to the ILLINOIS PAINT BREEDER’S FUTURITY on or before August
1st of the year the entry becomes a two-year-old for each two year
old class entered.
2. Entries postmarked after
3. A late penalty of $100.00 per year, plus
entry fee, will be imposed on foals not previously nominated in the weanling
and yearling years.
4. A current copy of registration papers must be furnished to the Futurity by the start of the Futurity show. NO EXCEPTIONS. Information on entries must match corresponding information on registration papers or entry will be disqualified from showing.
5. In order to compete in the Two Year Old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure Non-Pro Classification, the horse must be owned by Amateur or Youth exhibitor or a member of their immediate family. Exhibitor must possess in hand a current Amateur or Youth card, and must supply at the time of entry. APHA rules pertaining to these divisions will apply.
6. Beginning in 2007 (foals of 2005), a hunter under saddle class will also be included in the Illinois Paint Breeders Futurity two year old classification.
General Rules
GR-1. Entries will be judged by all judges used in conjunction with the horse show. All judges scores will be counted. In case of a tie, both horses will be considered winner of that place.
GR-2. All entries will be placed first to tenth. The first place horse will receive one point, the second place horse two points, etc. Horses in the class that did not place in the top ten will be scored eleven points. Overall score may be checked on any entry by contacting the Futurity Committee. You must show in all goes of your Futurity class to qualify for winnings.
GR-3. Non-compliance with these rules could result in forfeiture of entry into class and/or winnings. This will be voted on by the Futurity Committee.
GR-4. All entry documentation, upon application into the Futurity, becomes the property of the Futurity Committee for future reference of the nominee.
Purse and Awards
Proceeds for the stallion auction and nominations for the Futurity will be split 85% going to the purse, and 15% withheld for operation and advertising expenses. The purse and awards will be divided as follows in the respective divisions.
Weanling
Halter Classification
37% net proceeds from the stallion nominations, 85% of entry fees and net miscellaneous funds.
Yearling
Halter Classification
18% net proceeds from the stallion nominations, 85% of entry fees and net miscellaneous funds.
Yearling
Longe Line Classification
10% net proceeds from the stallions nominations, 85% of entry fees and net miscellaneous funds.
15%
net proceeds from the stallion nominations, 85% of entry fees and 100% of net
miscellaneous funds. Distribution
between two classes will be based on number of horses exhibited in each class.
5%
net proceeds from the stallion nominations, 85% of entry fees and 100% of net
miscellaneous funds.
All
payback will be divided on the following percentage based on the number of
horses exhibited:

Prize
money will not be awarded until Social Security Number has been furnished, and
all financial obligations due to the IPHA have been met.
