The Breeder’s Futurity

The Breeder’s Futurity is an open futurity based on the yearly stallion service auction. In order to be eligible to show in the futurity, the sire of the foal must be nominated and the service sold in the Stallion Service Auction the year preceding the birth of your foal. Below is a list of eligible stallions by year. The Breeder’s Futurity is based on a four year show cycle with monies being retained to pay out each year along with specific entry fees.

Classes are as follows:

  • Weanling Halter (Early and Late)
  • Yearling Halter
  • Yearling Longe Line
  • 2yo Halter
  • 2yo Longe Line
  • 2yo Western Pleasure
  • 2yo Western Pleasure Non-Pro
  • 2/3yo Hunter Under Saddle
  • 3yo Western Pleasure

Mare owners who purchase stallion services through the SSA, and stallion owners who donate a breeding that sells through the SSA, each have the right to nominate one foal as eligible for the ½ price entry fee. This ½ price entry fee will follow the foal through the entire Futurity, and is transferable should the ownership of the foal change. In order to take advantage of this discount entry fee option, the stallion owner and mare owner must contact the Futurity Committee with the foal’s information by August 1st of the foaling year.

SSA eligible Stallions from Previous Years

The IPHA Triple Crown is an incentive created to encourage participation through thru the entire three years of foal eligibility for each division. Beginning with the foals of 2015, the IPHA will offer two $500.00 award payouts to the current owners of the horses shown all three years in each of the Halter and Performance divisions, and who has accumulated the most points from the respective futurity classes over that three-year period.

There are 2 different classifications Halter and Performance.

  • Halter Triple Crown - Consists of horses shown in Weanling, Yearling and 2YO Halter.
  • Performance Triple Crown - Consists of horses shown as Yearlings in Longe Line; 2yo in Longe Line OR Western Pleasure/Western Pleasure Non-Pro/Hunter Under Saddle; and as 3yo in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure.

Results are by Breeding Year:
